Workshop on Hardware SecurityWorkshop on Hardware Securityat the Third International Conference on Emerging Security Technologies (EST-2012)September 6, 2012Lisbon, PortugalChair:Svein Johan Knapskog, NTNU Norway CALL FOR PAPERSHardware security is characterized by the fact that some systems have security requirements paired with restrictions in size and power consumption that can be difficult, costly, or impossible to meet with commonly used programs on standard, commercially available, of-the-shelf computers. Dedicated hardware can offer the most efficient solution in many applications where data encryption, signing of data, or other more specific security protocols need to be designed and implemented. Dedicated hardware can also offer significant advantages for implementation and testing of prototypes and demonstrators for security algorithms or protocols, or for production of security units in small numbers. This workshop will address issues and approaches covering the application of various hardware technologies for implementing information and communication technology (ICT) security solutions, including, but not limited to, the following topics: •FPGA design •FPGA Design Tools•Design optimization techniques oThroughputoAreaoPower consumptionoInternal resource usage•ASIC design•ASIC optimization•Air and Space security•Biometric systems•Ubiquitous computing•The Internet of thingsIMPORTANT DATESDeadline for paper submission:April 30, 2012Notification of acceptance:May 15, 2012Final manuscript submission:June 31, 2012Papers are due on April 25, 2012, and should be 4 pages long in the CPS two-column styled format. Publication templates are available for LaTeX and MS Word. For paper instructions and submission, please visit the conference website at http://www.est-2012.info/submissions.htm. Workshop papers will be submitted, reviewed, and published in the same way as regular conference papers. VENUEThe workshop will take place at Hotel Sofitel Lisbon Liberdade, Lisbon, Portugal, on September 6, in association with the Third International Conference on Emerging Security Technologies, which will take place at the same venue, from September 5th to the 7th, 2012.
