Workshop on Hardware Security Workshop on Hardware Security at the Third International Conference on Emerging Security Technologies (EST-2012) September 6, 2012 Lisbon, Portugal Chair:  Svein Johan Knapskog, NTNU Norway CALL FOR PAPERS Hardware security is characterized by the fact that some systems have security requirements paired with restrictions in size and power consumption that can be difficult, costly, or impossible to meet with commonly used programs on standard, commercially available, of-the-shelf computers.  Dedicated hardware can offer the most efficient solution in many applications where data encryption, signing of data, or other more specific security protocols need to be designed and implemented.  Dedicated hardware can also offer significant advantages for implementation and testing of prototypes and demonstrators for security algorithms or protocols, or for production of security units in small numbers. This workshop will address issues and approaches covering the application of various hardware technologies for implementing information and communication technology (ICT) security solutions, including, but not limited to, the following topics: • FPGA design • FPGA Design Tools • Design optimization techniques o Throughput o Area o Power consumption o Internal resource usage • ASIC design • ASIC optimization • Air and Space security • Biometric systems • Ubiquitous computing • The Internet of things IMPORTANT DATES Deadline for paper submission: April 30, 2012 Notification of acceptance: May 15, 2012 Final manuscript submission: June 31, 2012 Papers are due on April 25, 2012, and should be 4 pages long in the CPS two-column styled format.
