About the HUMASCEND conference, the AT-EQUAL Series, and about Iasi
HUMASCEND aims to bring together researchers in all areas studying how to use machines to enhance
human capabilities. This covers system aspects related to collaboration between humans and machines,
devices designed to enhance human capabilities, and cyborgs - hybrids of living organisms and machines.
The HUMASCEND Conference and the HUMASCEND Summer School are part of the Advanced
Technologies for Enhanced Quality of LIfe, AT-EQUAL conference series that started in 2009.
The conference will be held in the former capital of the medieval principality of Moldavia, Iasi
(Jassy), a beautiful city with hundreds of years of tumultuous history and a hub of Romanian culture.
Located near the city's Administrative Palace, built near the ruins of a 15th century castle of Stephan the
Great of Moldavia, the conference location is within walking distance to the city's main monuments and
attractions. The social program will include cultural events, tours to wineries and a tour to the famous painted
monasteries of Northern Moldavia, UNESCO monuments.
Tracks
The conference invites papers fitting its three main tracks:
•
Human-Machine Systems: humans and machines in collaborative relationships
•
Enhancing Devices: focusing on a next-gen prosthetics, designed to enhance human capabilities
•
Cyborgs: focusing on true hybrids that fuse living tissue and artificial structures
