About the HUMASCEND conference, the AT-EQUAL Series, and about Iasi HUMASCEND aims to bring together researchers in all areas studying how to use machines to enhance human capabilities. This covers system aspects related to collaboration between humans and machines, devices designed to enhance human capabilities, and cyborgs - hybrids of living organisms and machines. The HUMASCEND Conference and the HUMASCEND Summer School are part of the Advanced Technologies for Enhanced Quality of LIfe, AT-EQUAL conference series that started in 2009. The conference will be held in the former capital of the medieval principality of Moldavia, Iasi (Jassy), a beautiful city with hundreds of years of tumultuous history and a hub of Romanian culture. Located near the city's Administrative Palace, built near the ruins of a 15th century castle of Stephan the Great of Moldavia, the conference location is within walking distance to the city's main monuments and attractions. The social program will include cultural events, tours to wineries and a tour to the famous painted monasteries of Northern Moldavia, UNESCO monuments. Tracks The conference invites papers fitting its three main tracks: Human-Machine Systems: humans and machines in collaborative relationships Enhancing Devices: focusing on a next-gen prosthetics, designed to enhance human capabilities Cyborgs:  focusing on true hybrids that fuse living tissue and artificial structures Topics AT-EQUAL 2012 Events   - HUMASCEND Conference   - Humascend Summer School   - REMEDIS   - ARTIPED   June 14-16, 2012,  Iasi, Romania International Conference on Human-Machine Systems, Cyborgs and Enhancing Devices HUMASCEND                       Part of the Advanced Technologies for              Enhanced Quality of Life                        AT-EQUAL                Conference Series Related Events  Call for Papers (PDF) Affective computing Anthropomorphic  Robotics Artificial/Computational Intelligence Assistive Technologies Augmented Human Awareness Computing Bio-signal processing Biomedical imaging Biological databases BioBanks Bio-compatible materials Brain modeling Biological Systems modeling Bio-robotics Biomimetic Implementations Biomedical engineering Bionic systems Brain-Machine Interfaces Cellular Biophysics Coaching/teaching systems Cognitive Computing Computational Biology/Life Science Computer-controlled biology Control of prosthetic systems Cybernetics Ethical issues in man-machine hybrids Haptics and Teleoperation Human Centered Design Human-Machine System Design Human-Robot/Computer Interaction Interactive Digital Media Knowledge-based autonomy Medical Mechatronics Medical Informatics Neuromuscular interfaces Neurally-controlled robots Neural Prosthesis Physiological Modeling/Simulation Robot Assisted Therapy Robot learning Rehabilitation by Robots Smart Prosthetics/Orthotics Social Robotics Systems Biology for bio-artificial hybrids Tissue Engineering and Organ Growth Virtual and Augmented Reality Publications The papers will be reviewed for technical merit and content and the accepted papers will appear in the proceedings, to be published by Conference Publishing Services (CPS).   Conference publications published by the  Computer Society’s Conference Publishing Services (CPS) are submitted for indexing through INSPEC®.  All CPS conference publications are also submitted for indexing to EI’s Engineering Information Index, Compendex®, (Elsevier), and ISI Thomson’s Scientific and Technical Proceedings®, ISTP®/ISI Proceedings, and Current Contents on Diskette® (ISI Thomson).
